Conference overview
Climate change is a growing global issue. In June, the U.S. House of Representatives passed comprehensive energy and climate change legislation that would set our country on a path to reduce its carbon emissions to 83% below 2005 levels by 2050, among other things. If it becomes law, this bill will mark a historic milestone for U.S. climate change policy—one that will help pave the way for the Obama Administration to take a lead role in the upcoming United Nations global climate change negotiations this December in Copenhagen, Denmark. Many applaud Congressional recognition of climate change along with the long-term opportunities generated in the clean technology sector, while others criticize the short-term economic impact on American businesses and households. The conference will address the current state of the U.S. carbon markets and the regulatory schemes, emerging technologies, and the opportunities and challenges facing companies in a carbon-constrained environment.
