Leading Intellectual Property Attorney Joins Cooley in New York

Cooley LLP Announced today that Matthew E. Langer
, Ph.D. has joined the firm as a partner in its Intellectual Property
practice group, resident in the New York office. He will focus on patent prosecution and counseling.
Dr. Langer is a patent law expert in pharmaceuticals, chemical synthesis, biotechnology and clean technology. He has extensive experience representing pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device companies, ranging from start-ups to public companies.

Most recently, Dr. Langer was partner at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. Before beginning his legal career, he was a research scientist at Unilever Research and was a staff chemist at GE Corporate Research and Development. He is a joint inventor named on numerous U.S. patents assigned to Lever Brothers Company or GE.
Dr. Langer earned his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Tufts University and his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Yale University. He was awarded his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 1998.About Cooley LLP
