Eleanor, MIT's Newest Solar Car, to Visit Cooley

Palo Alto, Calif. – June 11, 2009 – Eleanor, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) futuristic solar electric vehicle, will make an appearance on Tuesday, June 16 at Cooley Godward Kronish's Hanover Street office in Palo Alto.  The solar car will be featured as part of the MIT Club of Northern California's Semiconductor & Clean Tech Entrepreneur Series and in conjunction with the organization's annual summer reception at Cooley.

Eleanor is currently on a U.S. tour prior to entering the World Solar Challenge in Australia in October. Unveiled on February 27, MIT's latest solar car features fixed fairings for the first time. Fairings fixed and integrated into the body design permit lower drags, greater reliability and allow the car to take advantage of crosswinds to propel the car forward.

The Solar Electric Vehicle Team, which sponsors Eleanor, is a recognized student organization at MIT.  The team is dedicated to promoting alternatively powered vehicles.
