Please join PricewaterhouseCoopers and Cooley Godward Kronish for a discussion of the current conditions and trends in clean technology funding, with particular emphasis on the impact of the Obama administration's policies and funding programs.

Venture capitalists poured a record amount of money into clean technology companies in 2008, but the numbers fell sharply in the fourth quarter in the midst of an unprecedented meltdown of the credit markets and a widening global recession. The trend continued in Q1 2009. Despite a growing demand for clean technology products and services, the challenging investment environment remains a key obstacle. Clean tech investors and CEOs are pursuing federal and state government programs as potential funding sources and adapting their business models accordingly. This session will cover the following:

  • The current trends in clean technology funding, from both private and public funding sources
  • The environment in Washington, DC and an update on the Department of Energy loan programs
  • Specifics on the Smart Grid program, including deadlines and mechanics
